The National Police Commission (NPC) of Sri Lanka has decided to dismiss Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Nilantha Jayawardhana from the Sri Lanka Police.
The commission made this decision following the conclusion of a disciplinary inquiry, which found Mr. Nilantha Jayawardhana guilty of failing to take necessary action based on intelligence received prior to the Easter Sunday attacks.
After the relevant report was submitted to the National Police Commission, the commission met yesterday (19th) under the chairmanship of retired high court judge Mr.Lalith Ekanayake and decided to dismiss Mr.Jayawardhana from the service.
At the time of the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, Mr. was serving as the Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS).
